School & Access Mental Health Therapist

Description
Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a full-time School & Access Mental Health Therapist to provide school-based mental health services to students K-8 suffering from emotional or mental disorders, or facilitate these children receiving such services. This position is located in the Union School District Monday through Thursday, and will have Access duties at CHD on Fridays.

The Requirements
Master's degree in a social sciences field.

Licensure preferred but not required.

Two years of relevant mental health experience required.

Meets requirements of a Qualified Mental Health Professional.

Certified as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor or must begin certification process upon hire.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of practices, principles and philosophy of mental health treatment, motivational interviewing, assessment, treatment plans and DSM V diagnoses, computer basics and crisis counseling.

Ability to establish rapport with a diverse age range

Knowledge of developmental stages and adolescent issues.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass all criminal history check requirements and drug screenings.

General Statement of Duties -School Therapist
Assessment and screening of adolescents, and children

Brief individual counseling sessions for referred students in grades K-12

Facilitate family meetings.

Participate in IEP or school team meetings when requested

Classroom presentations

Consultation with teachers, administrators, regarding student behaviors, concerns

Follow-up on referrals from staff, parents, students

Making and taking parental calls regarding student behavioral concerns.

Develop, format and gather curriculum for specific population groups

Weekly consultation with Behavior Health Team crisis and family treatment teams.

Participate in group and one-on-one supervision as appropriate

General Statement of Duties - Access Therapist
Assure adequate completion of intake paperwork/ROIs.

Assessment types: Mental Health, Substance Use Disorder, Bariatric, ABA

Complete behavioral health assessment on clients of all ages in a timely manner.
Utilize screening and assessment tools.

Justify medical necessity for treatment.

Justify DSM 5 diagnosis for every diagnosis given

Complete a Risk Assessment. Safety plan if needed.

Complete provisional ISSP.

Refer to sub-programs as needed: i.e., case management, supported employment, LMP services, Jail Diversion, Gambling, ACT, DUII, etc.

Request medical records as needed. Especially if referring for LMP services.

Communicate with referring parties, either by phone or fax.

Enroll client, schedule prior to client leaving the building, inform primary clinician of new enrollment.
