Public Health Registered Nurse

Description
Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a full-time Public Health Registered Nurse. This position will be responsible for providing a variety of public health nursing services including immunization, family planning, communicable disease investigation, sexually transmitted disease clinic, HIV testing, counseling, and follow-up, pregnancy screening and general health education and referral. Provide COVID-19 support which includes testing, immunizations and case investigations. Other duties as assigned.

The Requirements
Licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Oregon, RN, BSN

Thorough knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, public health nursing skills, interviewing and counseling techniques.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to associate tactfully and empathetically with clients of various ages, educational levels and developmental stages; use initiative judgment, creativity; work independently; maintain effective working relationships with other agencies, professionals, citizen groups and other employees.

Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Experience and training in public/community health nursing or maternal/child health nursing preferred.

Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s license and pass a criminal history check and drug screening.

The Essential Functions
Performs professional community health nursing services at clinics, homes, schools and other settings for clients in such areas as parent/child health, family planning, and nutrition, communicable and chronic diseases.

Assures all clinic task are completed per Clinic RN Responsibility list and or Nursing Supervisor.

Assist NP/MD and program coordinators as necessary.

Performs client assessment; a documented, systematic and ongoing collection of data to determine current status and identify needs in physical, environmental, psychosocial, developmental, educational, behavioral, emotional and mobility areas. 

Provides counseling and teaching to clients on matters related to pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, contraception, nutrition, basic health practices, early infant care and newborn behavior, growth and development.

Must maintain punctual and regular work attendance.

Must have the ability to maintain positive and professional working relationships with co-workers, clients and other agencies.

Assist with COVID-19 which may include case investigations, contact tracing, and assist with planning and staffing support for COVID-19 testing events and vaccine clinics.
